Prestigious private institutions such as Backus, Intel, Microsoft, Fundación OLPC, Fundación Telefónica, Cisco, IBM and the Asociación Empresarios por la Educación will support the nationwide development of PerúEduca, a digital system for learning.

PerúEduca is a platform that aims to generate management areas of knowledge, collaborative work and exchange of experiences. PerúEduca allows teachers, principals, students and parents to access tools, services and personalised educational resources according to their profile and information needs. It is expected that by 2016 at least 20 million users will be helped by this system.

The launch of this program was carried out by Patricia Salas, Minister of Education, and representatives of the companies that are part of  Alianza PeruEduca.

Mrs. Malena Morales, Executive Director of Backus Foundation, said, “For many years our company has maintained a real commitment to education in Peru through Virtual School Backus. That is why we’ve now joined this initiative that wants to strengthen the use of information and communication technologies among students and teachers.”

It’s also an example of a public-private alliance that will act as an advisory board in regular meetings, and as a coordinator of initiatives and projects of Technology and Education in Peru.

Nowadays, 8 institutions make up this Alianza, however, the Ministry of Education has started to identify other potential allies in both the private and the public sector.
