Backus receives a prize for Good Practices of Corporate Governance (Translation)

Lima, July 7, 2009.- The Stock Market of Lima (Bolsa de Valores de Lima) in the framework of the Good Corporate Governance Index, gave to Backus Peruvian Beer Breweries Union and Johnston S.A.A. the prize for being a company with Good Practices of Corporate Governance.

This prize wants to recognize and give more visibility in the market to those companies, which shares are listed in the Stock Market of Lima, which have an adequate level of liquidity and besides, have the best Corporate Governance practices.

Through the selection of companies with Best Corporative Practices, the Stock Market of Lima grants to investors with an additional tool for investment decision-making.

The Good Corporate Governance, is a system which companies use to be administered and controlled. Includes the responsibility principles compliance for the shareholders and stakeholders based on transparency, trust, equity, social responsibility, flow and integrity of information principles.

Dr. Shadu Mendoza, Backus Legal Representative pointed out: "This recognition is very important for the company, it confirms that Backus is a serious, transparent and trustworthy company for its shareholders and stakeholders, besides to be an interesting alternative for local and foreign investors. It is worth noting that Backus, since November 2003, has a Good Corporate Governance Code, that establishes the shareholders' rights; functions and duties of the Board and directors; functions and responsibilities of the management and related topics and information disclosure and transparency principles.
