Felipe Cantuarias Salaverry, Backus new Planning and Corporate Affairs Vice-President (Translation)

Lima, November 25, 2009. - The board of Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus and Johnston S.A.A. agreed to appoint Felipe Cantuarias Salaverry as Planning and Corporate Affairs Vice-President. He will assume his new role in Lima as of February 1st, 2010.

Felipe Cantuarias joined the SABMiller group in 2006 and, over the last three and a half years, has served as Corporate Affairs Senior Vice-President for Latin America. Among other external affairs issues, he is responsible for regional strategies of sustainable development, corporate communications and risks management, as well as for the legal and security areas. He is also a member of SABMiller Latin America Executive Committee.

As he welcomed Felipe Cantuarias, Backus President, Robert Priday, emphasized how important it was for their company to "add a prominent Peruvian to their ranks, one with extensive experience in SABMiller business and who will have as a priority to promote Backus best practices of corporate policy. At the same time, he will continue leading Sustainable Development actions, which include promoting new business opportunities such as the financing of agricultural, commercial and industrial projects. These actions promote the country's development and the creation of wealth and also add to Backus strategic management reputation".

"Joining Backus responds to a personal and professional interest to continue contributing to the development of Peru and to provide my regional experience through the enthusiasm and leadership Backus exercises in the country", said Cantuarias.

Felipe Cantuarias is a lawyer who graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has a Masters in law with emphasis on Corporate Finances from Harvard University and a specialization in business from the Kellogg School of Management. He has ample experience in the private sector as Trade and Corporate Affairs Vice-President for Antamina, a mining company. He also worked in the public sector as Chief of Staff for the Prime Minister of Peru from 1996-1998. Today, he is a member of the Latin American Brewers Board and Executive Committee.

It will also help Backus continue leading innovative strategies for the benefit of our customers", added Fernando Zavala, who previously occupied the position Cantuarias will now assume and who currently serves as President of Cervecería Nacional in Panama.
