Cusqueña brand received the “Benjamín Roca Muelle” prize from CANATUR (Translation)

- The presentation took place last Friday, November 25th, within the framework of the 40-year celebration of institutional life of CANATUR

Lima, November 28th, 2011 - Cusqueña beer, Backus' premium brand, was awarded last Friday with the "Benjamín Roca Muelle" prize by the Cámara Nacional de Turismo. This important prize is awarded to companies and institutions that have contributed to the development and the strengthening of the touristic sector. 

It is worth mentioning that Cusqueña beer was chosen unanimously by the former presidents of CANATUR, who make the Advisory Council. Cusqueña brand received the prize in the category "Company that doesn't belong to the touristic sector but promotes touristic attractions."

The ceremony took place last Friday in the Convention Center of the Atlantic City, with a dinner party. Important figures of the touristic and the business sector were present in the ceremony. Also, the Ministry of Foreign Commerce and Tourism, José Luis Silva Martinot, was there among other governmental officials.

As it is well known, Cusqueña brand has been developing initiatives in the spreading of tourism through the promotion of culture, opening new spaces for social inclusion, like the contest "Heirs of our magic," which was launched recently by Cusqueña, with the support of Backus and the Ministry of Foreign Commerce and Tourism. This activity, that involves making artistic representations of the Kero cup, constitutes an opportunity for the Peruvian people to show their talent and passion, feeling proud of their origins and opening the doors of Peru to the world.

From Backus, Javier Neyra, Manager of Cusqueña brand and Felipe Cantuarias, Vice-president of Backus, received the prize. Felipe Cantuarias mentioned, "We gladly receive this recognition to Cusqueña brand, which has put every effort promoting the arts and culture in our country, especially during this year, celebrating 100 years of the discovery of the Machu Picchu to the world."
 
Let's remember that Cusqueña beer has supported several activities in the framework of the 100-year celebration of the discovery of the Incan citadel. Among them, the publication of the book "Machu Picchu: Canto de Piedra" from the renown Peruvian photographer Walter Wust, the same one who recently has managed to join Amazon.com, the biggest North American company in e-commerce, which will allow him to be at everybody's disposal.

All these actions reflect the big commitment that the brand has with the promotion of tourism through the constant support to the Peruvian culture.
