In the Destapa Futuro entrepreneurship reality

- Nearly $6.000 million are invested each year by Bavaria in its entrepreneurship program.
- With Destapa Futuro, Bavaria has supported the creation and development of 226 companies in Colombia, with high growth potential, generating 662 direct jobs.

Bogotá, August 26th, 2010. Last night, Bavaria, the leading beverage company in Colombia, provided awards to the top entrepreneurs in its social investment program - Destapa Futuro - which gave more than COP1.5 bn to those projects that demonstrated self-sustainability, the ability to achieve exemplary business development and to contribute to job generation. In total, the program provided COP3.4 bn, including the first seed capital disbursed last December; funds that will be used to acquire productive assets, such as machinery, equipment, technology, among other things.

The event was broadcast last night within the framework of the last Destapa Futuro reality show chapter produced by CM&, presented at Canal Uno on national TV since last June 28th, Monday through Friday at 8.30 p. m., before "Pregunta Yamid," and which was hosted by renowned presenter Viena Ruiz. This one of a kind, novel contest gave away the largest prize ever in Colombian TV, which amounted to COP3.4 bn.

"This modality seeks to create awareness among the audience of the importance of competitiveness for corporate development, and the need to go beyond local economic circumstances, in addition to positioning innovation in the agenda", indicated Fernando Jaramillo, Vice-president of Corporate Affairs of Bavaria.

This initiative is an integral part of the social responsibility strategy of Bavaria, which is aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, and that is promoted in Colombia through the Destapa Futuro program of Fundación Bavaria since 2006, the purpose of which has been to promote the consolidation of new and innovative companies in the country.

Karl Lippert, President of Bavaria, said: "The first and most important aspect is that Colombia is a very enterprise-focused society. This is a place where there is no need to explain the need to create a business. In fact, based on the classification of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, Colombia is among the top three countries worldwide for its entrepreneurial vocation. Today I'm glad to say that our collective movement to build an entrepreneurship ecosystem for Colombian entrepreneurs has been made a reality. And this ecosystem is where the ten new businesses that we announced last night will find a place to grow and capture new markets while generating new jobs".

The jury of Destapa Futuro was comprised of Eulalia Arboleda - former president of Banco Caja Social BCSC and current member of the board of directors of Fundación Bavaria -, Rudolf Hommes, former Ministry of Finance and current member of the board of directors of Bavaria and Samuel Azout, former president of Carulla and former member of the board of directors of Bavaria.
