Eco-tours of KP breweries (Translation)

4 May 2010

Since April 2010 Kompania Piwowarska's breweries in Poznań and Tychy have been organizing special eco-tours. The aim of the eco-tours is to present the green side of the breweries and show our visitors the effects of KP's pro-environmental activities.

Ecological brewing is a fact. Both KP's breweries prove that during their theme eco-tours. Kompania Piwowarska SA was first exposed to such tours during the December 2008 COP14 climate conference.

"Our guests, outstanding specialists, have rated high the effects of pro-environmental actions and investments. Those effects are clearly visible in numbers: the percent of recycled waste reaches 100, the amount of water necessary to brew 1 litre of beer is about 3.1-3.5 litres, which places us among the world leaders (world average is over 5 litres)" - said Klaudyna Gruszecka, Environment Protection Manager at Kompania Piwowarska. -  "There are many numbers, as we have been increasing the number of ecological solutions at Kompania Piwowarska over the last few years. The eco-tour should interest not only the environment protection specialists and experts, but anyone concerned about nature."

Sustainable development at KP
Sustainable development guidelines that Kompania Piwowarska has been following in their pro-environmental activities bind all SABMiller breweries across the world. 4 ecological priorities are listed:

- Reducing water use
- Reducing energy use and CO2 emissions
- Recovery and recycling of packaging waste
- Responsible waste management

Sustainable development relies on a notion that business operations should take into consideration social, environmental and economical challenges to meet the needs not only in the present, but also for future generations.

"We want to promote ecology, because we are a company that cares about the environment. We are ISO 14001 certified, which means we adhere to all world standards in regards to protecting the environment. Kompania Piwowarska (including the brewery in Poznań) is the first brewery in Poland which received Clean Manufacturing certification, and first in the industry to publish an Environmental Report". - said Katarzyna Wilczewska, Public Affairs Manager at Kompania Piwowarska.
