Club Libertad and Pilsen Trujillo celebrate Marinera Contest 50th Anniversary (Translation)

Lima, January 11th, 2010.- The beginning of activities for the Marinera National 50th Contest to be held at the Gran Chimu stadium in the city of Trujillo from January 16th to 31st of this year, was announced at a press Conference in Miraflores Park Hotel.
During this anniversary season, Daniela Rodriguez Burmester will be the 2010 Marinera Queen. This traditional and renowned contest has been sponsored by beer Pilsen Trujillo since its origins and it is an emblematic city brand that promotes this dance as an icon in their logo.
The Marinera Contest is the most anticipated contest year after year due to the quality of its participants. The organizers have shared that this year they expect to have over 1000 participating couples from across Peru. All this added to Peruvians residing in several countries in America and Europe who return each year specifically to this event.
"This year is very special as we will reach the 50th edition of such renowned competition, which is characterized by its impressive organization and the quality of the participating couples", stated Fernando Burmester Landuaro, President of Club Libertad.
Also, the President of Club Libertad said that Regional Selection Contests have been held this year in Cajamarca, Chepen, Huaraz, Tarapoto, Piura, Chimbote, Arequipa, Huacho, Cusco and Lima, all of them aiming to promote this dance throughout Peru and to give participants an opportunity to secure a place at the Marinera National Contest.
