San Mateo Renews Its Image For the PET Bottles and Reduces the Use of Plastic in Its Packaging by 10%

Lima, January 16th, 2014.- As part of the innovations carried out in the Backus brand portfolio, San Mateo renews the image of its bottles and labels for the 350 ml, 600 ml, 1.5 l. and 2.5 l. PET bottles, which are being distributed nationwide.
The renewal of the image of the bottles and labels is intended to highlight the purity of the product, as it is bottled in its place of origin. It is worth mentioning that San Mateo is obtained thanks to the filtration of water through the rocks of the Andes, acquiring minerals and creating a natural spring at 10826.8 feet above sea level.
In this regard, Andrés Fernández Velando, Director of San Mateo Brand from Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston, said that the new design of the bottle and the label is an update of the brand’s image to highlight its superiority and modernisation, always thinking of its consumers. “This updated packaging is intended to highlight our origin in the spring, which makes our offer superior to other offers in the market,” he said.
San Mateo, a Backus brand, supports the company’s 10 priorities for sustainable development, one of which is a reduction of packaging to reduce the brand’s impact on the environment. To that end, the new San Mateo packaging uses 10% less plastic than the old design.
It is worth mentioning that San Mateo has exceeded the industry rates, growing 15% in 2013.
