Lima, August 23rd, 2012 - For the second year in a row, Backus has been awarded the Socially Responsible Company (ESR) award, thanks to its good business practises and their commitment to sustainable development of Peru, which in an integral part of the company’s culture and business strategy.
The award promotes a culture of Social Responsibility, rewarding companies committed to developing the country. It highlights Backus’ approach and their initiatives to generate economic, social and environmental value, carried out within the framework of the Backus’ 10 priorities of Sustainable Development.
On the subject, Malena Morales, Backus’ Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Development pointed out, “Receiving this award for the second year in a row, Backus reasserts its social commitment to Peru. This award is a result of the work carried out in our programmes of Sustainable Development that strive to achieve sustainable growth for the business, the workers, the consumers, the clients and the communities where we operate.”
The ESR® award is a recognition given by Perú 2021, together with AliaRSE por el Perú and the Centro Mexicano de Filantropía (CEMEFI) to companies belonging to Patronato Perú 2021. The award’s goal is to elevate the business standard, strengthen the culture of social responsibility and identify those companies committed to the integral development of the country and its communities.
The necessary requirements to receive the award include the quality of life of the company, business ethics, links between the company and the community, and commitment to the environment. Because of that, it is renewed every year, in an effort to generate a process of constant improvement in the management of social responsibility.
