The recognition was given at a public ceremony within the framework of the International Seminar of Better Practices of Business Social Responsibility 2011 that took place in Guadalajara, Mexico. Backus was recognised among companies in Latin America in the category of Management Models from the RSE as a result of its focus on Sustainable Development. Companies from seven countries from Latin America (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras and Peru) and from other states in the Mexican territory participated in this important event.
It is worth mentioning that Backus has been implementing these actions with the goal of generating shared value with those who are part of its operational chain and the communities in which it operates, with the goal of promoting social inclusion.
Malena Morales, Director of Sustainable Development and Corporate Matters from Backus, noted after receiving the award that "The sustainable development strategy is focused on generating not only economic results, but also social and environmental results, warranting the sustainable growth of the company, generating strategic alliances with various allies and trying to generate a positive impact for society as a whole."
This recognition is added to the recent award of Company Socially Responsible, awarded by Association Peru2021, together with AliaRSE and the CEMEFI, by the initiatives implemented in relation to four fields: Life quality in the company, business ethics, links with the community and links with the environment.
