People from Cusco, Andahuaylillas and Machupicchu receive help

Lima, February 1, 2010.- In a new display of commitment and sympathy with the Cusco region, BACKUS has responded to the cry for help from the residents of the most affected  areas by the severe weather. Backus help has reached stranded families that lost their belongings and homes.

Food donations and temporary infrastructure help:

Backus support became tangible as they donated nonperishable food items and material used for protection from the severe storms. To date, Backus has donated:

- 300 zinc sheets that will be distributed in Andahuaylillas and other regions by the Cusco Municipality's Infrastructure Management.

- 82,560 bottles of liquids that will be distributed by Quinta Brigada de Montaña:
o 44,400 Guaraná and Viva Backus bottles.
o 38,160 San Mateo mineral water bottles.

- Family-size tents directly donated by BACKUS to Cusco's Regional Government Presidency.

Transportation support:
The company's distribution truck fleet has been made available to the authorities to help bring donations to the affected villages. Portable toilets were taken to the district of Lucre yesterday.

In this way and through several actions, BACKUS, a Peruvian company with a broad social awareness, has stepped out to help affected families. Once again, Backus affirms its permanent commitment to Peru and in particular with the population of Cusco.
