Partnerships

We work in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders worldwide to drive progress on our shared imperatives.

We believe that by building strong partnerships we can create better solutions and make a greater difference in our markets than if we worked alone.

Bonsucro

Bonsucro logo

Bonsucro is a global multi-stakeholder non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing the environmental and social impacts of sugarcane production while recognising the need for economic viability. Bonsucro links its name to a product or process that has been certified by an independent certification body as being in compliance with the Bonsucro Standard. It is the first global metric standard for sugarcane. Bonsucro’s vision is a sugarcane sector that is continuously improving and verified as sustainable. SABMiller joined Bonsucro in 2013, and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2014. SABMiller is also working with local stakeholders in several countries to support locally developed platforms to become full metrics-based systems for ensuring and verifying sustainable sugarcane production, for example SUSFARMS in South Africa.

WWF

WWF's mission is to stop the degradation of our planet's natural environment, and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. In support of this mission, WWF works with major companies and their supply chains to ensure that key farmed commodities are produced and processed in a sustainable manner. Since 2012, WWF has advised SABMiller at a global level on its supply chains, and in South Africa, we have partnered with WWF since 2011 to improve the sustainability of barley farming through our “Better Barley, Better Beer” framework. Barley farmers are encouraged and supported to use this sustainable agriculture framework to ensure that their farming operations are resilient and looks at all aspects of farming; from minimising the impact on the environment and the use of scarce resources such as water, through to the management of their labour and finances.
