Backus Tonic Water Re-Launches Itself

Starting August 13th it will be available in major supermarkets and convenience stores

- This traditional brand represents 90% of the local tonic water market

- Starting in September, a new 250 ml can will be also available

Lima, August 09th 2013-  Backus tonic water announces its return to the local market with a 2-litre bottle and a 250-ml can. In this way the drink, made with natural citrus flavours, quinine and sugar, plans to revive its sale levels and continue leading the tonic water market in Peru.

As Mario Gomi, Non alcoholic Beverages Director  of Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston, pointed out, “With this re-launching of Backus tonic water, we are planning to regain our sales volume, equivalent to 90% of the market in this category. We have adopted the necessary measures to supply our consumers, who are the ones that recognise the quality, the trajectory and the preference of this emblematic brand of the country.”

The traditional flavour of Backus tonic water, now in a new package

Beginning August 13th, Backus tonic water will appear in major convenience stores and supermarkets with its new non-returnable packaging of 2 litres at a suggested price of S/. 6.50. And beginning in September, the new 250-ml can will be available in markets, at a suggested price of S/.2.50 for one can and S/.14.90 for a 6-pack. This way, the sole local producer of tonic water will be anticipating the preferences of Peruvian consumers.
