Backus Inaugurates “Sports Academy Sporting Cristal – Andahuaylillas”

- The goal of this initiative is to promote healthy lifestyles through the practise of sports and an optimal overall development among kids and young people from Andahuaylillas.

Lima,  January 27th,  2014.- Consistent with its business principles, Backus has just inaugurated the “Sports Academy Sporting Cristal –Andahuaylillas”, in the Cusco region, with the goal of promoting a culture of healthy living among children and young people in this part of the country, promoting those essential values that sports provide.

In this regard, Keren Trapunsky, a Backus representative, pointed out that “With this initiative, we want to help with the overall development of the youngest members of our society. We are sure that this sports proposal will serve as a model so other organisations will also adopt activities that promote healthy lifestyles.”  

In order to carry out this project, Backus established an alliance with the club Sporting Cristal, the Andahuaylillas municipality and Fe y Alegría School. In this regard, Sporting Cristal will provide the participants with the knowhow and the necessary sports equipment. The Andahuaylillas municipality will collaborate, paying part of the tuition fees of each student, in order to fund the uniforms, as well as providing the Andahuaylillas Stadium for the football sessions. And Fe y Alegría School will provide its facilities for the volleyball sessions.

The opening event was attended by famous football players like Jorge “Camello” Soto and Roberto “El Chorrillano” Palacios who, together with Backus’ representatives, Andahuaylillas municipality and Fe y Alegría School, celebrated the inauguration of the “Sports Academy Sporting Cristal – Andahuaylillas.”

It is worth mentioning that the classes will include a space aimed to develop social abilities and prevent risk behaviours among the participants, with the goal of developing a culture of healthy lifestyle through sports. To reach that goal, there will be workshops with the parents to involve them and to encourage good practises regarding the development of their children.

With this initiative, Backus reaffirms its commitment with Peru as one of the companies that carries out social responsibility practises that benefit the different members of the community.
