Solidarity Garden, A Creation Inspired by Hope

5 December 2012

San Pedro Sula, November 30th, 2012 - In order to promote the prevention of HIV and awareness of solidarity, coinciding with World Aids Day against HIV, today marked the inauguration of the Solidarity Garden, a monument dedicated to hope and fraternal bonds.

Participants in this initiative included Fundación Llaves (Llanto, Valor y Esfuerzo), Municipal Social Programmes, PSM; Parks and Boulevards Unit of the Municipality of San Pedro Sula, and Fundación Cervecería Hondureña; these organisations have participated in the design, shaping and planting of this grand monument, in which 1,000 plants were used to create the ribbon and the decoration of this symbol.

The Solidarity Garden is located west of Vereda Tropical on North Boulevard, on one of the overpasses beside Indufesa. This green area is one of the programmes of Linear Parks carried out by Municipal Social Programmes, Fundación Cervecería Hondureña and the San Pedro community, represented by schools, companies and several organisations.

This symbol is a result of the joint efforts of the organisations involved and monetary contributions; in addition to raising awareness within the community, it is also an example of the positive results that can be obtained when people work together for a common cause.

Helping to reduce HIV is one of the Ten Priorities of Cervecería Hondureña for Sustainable Development and so once again the company supports an important cause.

Fernando A. Penabad
Cervecería Hondureña Foundation

“At Cervecería Hondureña, we are aware of the impact of HIV on the community and on this country. We develop firm actions for prevention, and promote solidarity and participation in several initiatives to support the fight against the spread of the virus. Participating in the setting of the Solidarity Garden is a symbol of our conscience.”
