Volume Sales Continue Growing for UCP Backus and Johnson's Beer and Soft Drinks
Net profits increase 21.4% over the first nine months of the year
Gross and net tax income increased 17.8% during the first trimester
Lima, November 5, 2008.- UCP Backus and Johnson's sales volume between the months of January and September 2008 was 6,709 million of hectoliters, which is equivalent to a growth of 9.6% in the same period in the previous year. This percentage is similar to the growth experienced in their net and gross tax income. Soft drinks and water sales rose by 132,000 hectoliters, which represents an increase of 22.4% in the same period in the previous year.
Despite the increase of prices to main consumables, this increment in sales volume has resulted in an improvement on net profits, which registered a total of S/. 282.7 million in September 2008. This reflects an increase of 21.4% in the same period in the previous year.
Gross and net tax income increased S/. 87.5 million during the third trimester, reaching the S/. 578.6 million figure, which represents an increment of 17.8% in relationship to the third trimester in the previous year. These results are backed up by the brand portfolio and distribution by channels strategy used by the company, which has shown sales increments of S/. 40.6 million for Pilsen Trujillo, S/. 23.9 million Cusqueña and S/. 19.5 million for Pilsen Callao.
Third trimester net results rose to S/. 117.6 million, which represents the 20.3% of the gross income. This is equivalent to a 44.7% increase in the same period in the previous year.
The economical growth of the country and a greater purchasing power of the population have accompanied the growth of the brewing sector, all this despite the ample market competition which seeks consumers preference by launching new brands and presentations.
