US: MillerCoors Shenandoah Brewery Receives VPP Star Status from OSHA
7 October 2008
Brewery achieved OSHA’s highest rating for its outstanding occupational safety and health programs
Elkton, VA – (October 7, 2008) – The MillerCoors Shenandoah plant was recognized today as an Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) Star Status site in the Virginia Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
Star Status is the highest award available through OSHA. The award acknowledges workplaces that have implemented a comprehensive safety and health management system and established a cooperative relationship between plant management, labor and OSHA.
MillerCoors Vice President of Operations and Shenandoah plant manager Tim Williams noted that receiving VPP Star Status is OSHA’s official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have demonstrated exemplary occupational safety and health achievements.
“This recognition is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of each and every one of our employees,” Williams added.
To celebrate the honor, OSHA officials and local Virginia government leaders joined the MillerCoors Shenandoah team as the VPP Star Status flag was raised above the plant.
OSHA representatives spent four days at the Shenandoah Plant in January 2008 conducting an in-depth audit of the facility and interviewing employees and contractors on-site.
“We are excited about reaching this milestone and are dedicated to continuing our safety journey,” Williams said. “This award demonstrates that we continue to make progress.”
