SABMiller appoints new Marketing Director for Europe

SABMiller plc, one of the world’s leading brewers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Ritchie as Marketing Director of SABMiller Europe effective 1 October 2006.

Chris joins SABMiller Europe’s central office in Budapest from Procter & Gamble (“P&G”) where he spent eleven years in marketing capacities both in Canada and Europe. Most recently as Global Marketing Director for the Olay brand, his responsibilities included global expansion and in-store marketing capabilities for the business.

In his new role, Chris will work with brand teams across SABMiller’s European markets in developing strong local brand portfolios and integrating the group’s international premium offer. Chris will also be responsible for continuing to build effective and efficient systems and processes within the region’s marketing function. He will report to Alan Clark, Managing Director of SABMiller Europe.

SABMiller has operations in nine European countries including Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, Russia, Hungary, Slovakia, Canary Islands, Romania and the UK. Its brands include local beers such as Zolotaya Botchka, Tyskie and Kozel, as well as international brands Pilsner Urquell, Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Miller Genuine Draft. In the financial year to 31 March 2006, SABMiller Europe increased lager volumes by 6% and increased EBITA 14% on a constant currency basis.
