SABMiller makes Corporate Affairs appointments

SABMiller plc, one of the world’s leading brewers, announces that it has made further enhancements to its corporate affairs capability. Following recent appointments to head up departments in Reputation and Corporate Communications (Nov 2006), and Alcohol Policy (Dec 2006), the company has filled an additional three positions in the function, namely: Head of Sustainable Development; Alcohol Policy Manager; and Corporate Media Relations Manager.
The position of Head of Sustainable Development will be filled by Andy Wales who joins the company from Severn Trent Plc where he was previously Head of Environment and Corporate Responsibility. Andy has over seven years of experience working with FTSE 100 and Fortune 1000 companies to develop corporate responsibility programmes. For the last 5 years he has been a Liaison Delegate to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and he was a member of the UK government’s delegation to the UN Commission on Sustainable Development in 2005. Andy is a Master of Professional Studies in Leadership for Sustainable Development (Middlesex University) and holds an MBA from Warwick Business School.
The position of Alcohol Policy Manager will be filled by Elaine McCrimmon who has over eight years of experience in the alcohol industry. Prior to joining SABMiller she was a Senior Policy Advisor to the British Beer & Pub Association, contributing to the formulation of the UK government’s alcohol strategy. Prior to that she has held scientific positions with Anheuser-Busch (UK) and Allied Domecq (Scotland). Elaine holds a BSc degree in Applied Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
The position of Corporate Media Relations Manager has been filled by Victoria McNamee who was has over seven years experience in the communications industry. Prior to joining SABMiller Victoria was Media Relations Manager for L’Oreal UK, where she advised the executive team on a range of communications issues from animal testing to counterfeit products. Victoria has a BA Hons degree in History from the University of Birmingham.
Dr Alan Knight, who has been Head of Corporate and Social Responsibility since December 2004, has been appointed as SABMiller’s independent advisor on sustainable development. This will be a part-time role allowing him to continue also working as an advisor to government. Alan has made a substantial contribution to the development strategy and reporting framework for SABMiller and we are delighted that we will continue to be able to call on his expertise in future.
