Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, April 11th, 2013- Tropical joins in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the declaration of Vegueta as a Historical Site, paying its own particular tribute by placing on the market a limited edition of 90,000 bottles with a commemorative image of the emblematic neighbourhood of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The initiative was presented today in El Herreño restaurant of Palmas de Gran Canaria and included the presence of Pablo Barbero, Councillor of Economic, Tourism and Sea City Promotion; Cristian Santana, Councillor of the Vegueta district; Yiyo Espino, director of the Asociación Vegueta de Ocio y Restauración (AVOR); and Elías Rosales, director of Sponsorship of Compañía Cervecera de Canarias.

The bottles have a sleeve label that covers the entire surface area with an image that includes the most representative landmarks of the historic neighbourhood of Vegueta, such as the Santa Ana cathedral, Columbus’ House and Museum and the facades of its most emblematic buildings.

This edition will be distributed beginning on Saturday, April 13th. During the first 15 days it will be exclusively distributed in the AVOR establishments of Vegueta and later in the various hospitality establishments of the capital.

The Tropical initiative joins the actions carried out in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in order to activate and revitalize the entertainment and hospitality areas of Vegueta through the partnership agreement signed with the Asociación Vegueta de Ocio y Restauración (AVOR).

Among the activities scheduled are the Ruta de los pinchos (Tapas tour), carried out every Thursday night since April, which offers exclusive tapas accompanied by Tropical beer. To this is added Destapa Vegueta, (Uncover Vegueta) being carried out every Friday at midday since last year with the addition of tapas and beer.

With these activities, Compañía Cervecera de Canarias, through its Tropical brand, joins the recognition of the neighbourhood that was the founding core of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and nowadays is one of the better preserved historical sites of the Islands.

In this context, it is worth mentioning the artistic and cultural richness of one of the most visited areas of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which incorporates varied foreign stylistic influences such as the Mudejar, Gothic, Renaissance, Neoclassic and Eclectic styles.

This support of the cultural development and revitalization of the area is in keeping with Tropical’s policy of contributing to community development and linking its support to the development of the environment.
