Backus is Acknowledged by BVL for its Corporate Governance Best Practises

Lima, July 12, 2012 - For the fourth year in a row, the Lima Stock Exchange (Bolsa de Valores de Lima - BVL) acknowledged Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston S.A.A for its contribution to the excellence in quality management of Corporate Governance Best Practises (BGC, Spanish acronym), in Peru.

Dr. Shadu Mendoza, Backus Corporate Governance Manager and Compliance Officer, said: "We believe this recognition is very important, since it reaffirms Backus' transparency and commitment to its stakeholders, in addition to creating value, solidity and efficiency in the company, all of which enables it to be a good choice for local and foreign investors."

The Best Corporate Governance index is a system through which companies are managed and supervised for the compliance of principles such as transparency, trust, equity, social responsibility, fluidity and integrity of information provided to stockholders and other interested groups.

When based on these principles, the company is added value, since it helps reduce capital costs, makes it more competitive, adding efficiency and value to it, and therefore, it makes the company the best candidate to receive financing, leading investors to a perception of greater stability and smaller risk.
