Santa Cruz de Tenerife, November 3rd, 2011.- Compañía Cervecera de Canarias will collaborate again this year with the "Twenty first Half Marathon Santa Cruz de Tenerife" and, just like last time, for every person who finishes the race, the company will donate €10 to the sport association for disabled people Ademi Tenerife.
The sporting event, considered to be one of the most prestigious on the island, is organised by the Cultural and Sport Association ‘Farola del Mar' and the Sport Regional Authority of Santa Cruz City Hall.
With this contribution, Compañía Cervecera hopes to promote the development of the "Sports for Everybody" project, a programme developed by Ademi Tenerife to manage adapted sports in the south island, from Arico to Santiago del Teide. Ademi Tenerife's goal is to encourage disabled people in the south of Tenerife to participate in sports, and to help facilitate their social integration.
This collaboration started last year, and resulted in a donation of €6,080, which enabled 33 disabled people to participate in sports for the first time, and introduced 27 people to swimming.
The contributions of Compañía Cervecera also paid for an instructor for a futsal team for people with mental disabilities, and enabled the purchase of adapted sporting equipment and the reparation of wheel chairs for the practise of basketball.
This is just one Compañía Cervecera's social investment initiatives, developed by the company to improve the wellbeing of the community and support its growth.
Like last year, a group of Compañía Cervecera workers will also participate in the race, a collaborative effort designed to promote the company's social development policy for the islands.
