SABMiller appoints Consumer Science Consultant
14 July 2010
SABMiller plc, one of the world's leading brewers, announces the creation of a new role in its group technical team, to improve the company's consumer innovation capability.
Dr. Adam Fenton will be the brewer's first Consumer Science Consultant to operate within their Group Technical department and his role will involve working with external groups to identify consumer trends and innovations. He will also link with the marketing function to provide technical advice and support.
Another key element of Dr Fenton's role involves continuing to build SABMiller's ‘Global Taste System' - a proprietary tool which ensures complete consistency in tasting across all of its breweries and beer brands.
Professor Barry Axcell, Group Head Brewer at SABMiller said: "The introduction of a Consumer Science Consultant to the team will enhance our ability to tap into consumer trends and consumer needs better than ever before - the creation of this role is an exciting step in our capability. We're delighted to welcome Adam to SABMiller and to the team."
Adam obtained his PhD in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Wales in 2001 and since then has been directly involved in the beer and flavour business, most recently with Lion Nathan in Australia and FlavorActiV in the UK who supply flavour training expertise to brewers across the globe.
