SABMiller entered the Peruvian market in 2005. Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston S.A.A is the largest brewer in Peru, employing over 5,100 people with a market share of 93.8%. The company operates 5 breweries; all of which rank in the top 15 in SABMiller's Overall Plant Rankings. Cristal, the company's flagship brand, has a 40% share of the national beer market.
