3 June 2009

Pucallpa, June 03, 2009.  Progressing Together, the development program promoted by San Juan Brewery and Backus Foundation for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, will hold a basic course of entrepreneurship management in Pucallpa.  Progressing Together has summoned suppliers, distribution service entrepreneurs, customers, and a group of collaborators' spouses from DICOPOSAC, one of the commercial partners in the city of Pucallpa, to participate in this course.

The participants will take modules on Business Formation, Marketing, Costs, and Good Management in 4-hour sessions, two times per week, and will each receive an individual advisory session with an IPAE consultant.  At the end of the course, participants will take part in the final session, where they will develop critical points of their management and business plans in groups of 4 to 5 people.

Approximately 60 people will participate in the course, and will be divided into two study groups to facilitate learning. At the end of the training, they will have developed the skills to manage their businesses, and will receive a certification from Backus and IPAE, the organization responsible for giving these courses.

Cecilia Zevallos, the Backus Sustainable Development Assistant, inaugurated the course.  During her presentation she pointed out, "We believe that by developing entrepreneurial management skills in our commercial partners we are contributing to economic and social development in the city of Pucallpa."

Backus' work to strengthen the skills of micro and small businesses entrepreneurs is inspired by the goal of improving the efficiency, productivity, and environmental and social conditions of micro, small and medium-sized businesses.  It is also designed to create opportunities for local sustainable development, in terms of market development, employment and wealth generation, and achieve better economic and social integration of Backus in national and regional settings.
