Plátano de Canarias Adheres to the Clean Sports Corporate Commitment

8 July 2013

- This is a pioneer programme that emphasizes the principle of cero doping tolerance.

- Right now, Plátano de Canarias maintains important sports sponsorships, which include competitions organised by the ACB.

Canarias, July 5th, 2013 - Plátano de Canarias has subscribed to the Clean Sports Corporate Commitment, a code of good practises assumed by the sponsors, which emphasizes the principle of zero tolerance against doping.

Nineteen companies of national and international relevance, which play a key role in sports sponsorship, have already adhered to the project, in addition to having the support of the Anti-Doping World Agency, the Health Protection Spanish Agency and the athletes.

For the first time in history, the sponsors have taken a stand against doping, placing Spain at the forefront of the fight against fraud in sports and the defence of the competitions’ values.

The Canarias’ Association of Organisations of Banana Producers (ASPROCAN) has emphasised the importance of collaboration in the fight against doping, considering that this activity is blatantly contrary to the essence of the sport and the values that characterise it.

These aspects are exactly what have motivated Plátano de Canarias to support important sports sponsorships such as the one signed last month with the Basketball Clubs Association (ACB) for all the competitions organised by this entity, which include Liga Endesa, Supercopa Endesa and Copa del Rey.

Values such as hard work, improving one’s self, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle became Plátano de Canarias trademarks and the link with sponsored activities.

The project also maintains collaboration partnerships with other sports teams, such as the case with Club Ademi Tenerife (Sports Association for People with Disabilities)

The Clean Sports Corporate Commitment includes aspects such as the prevention of doping, the collaboration with anti-doping organisations and the support of training programmes against doping.
