Lima, May 25th, 2012 - Backus and the Ministry of Employment signed an interinstitutional framework agreement with the goal of creating alliances and joint measures that favour a more inclusive society.
The signing of this agreement coordinates both the commitment of MINTRA to generating better levels of employment and the practises already carried out by Backus on the sustainable development of the country in the framework of its policy of social business responsibility.
The objectives of this agreement are to start joint projects of economic infrastructure, training and work insertion, as well as training for taxes, and productive undertakings; the same ones that will be endorsed and implemented for both institutions in specific agreements.
Backus and MINTRA currently give priority to the execution of four projects related to the water and drainage infrastructure in Ayacucho and Huancavelica. Thanks to this initiative, 345 people will get temporary jobs and the quality of life of the people in the districts of Ocros and Huayllahuara will improve.
"In Backus, we work under the approach of sustainable development, seeking to improve the quality of life of all the Peruvian people. That's why we signed this Agreement with MINTRA," said Juan Malpartida, Legal Director and Director of Licence to Operate Backus.
It is worth mentioning that MINTRA has social productive employment generation programmes like "Jóvenes a la Obra," that generate jobs for young people and "Trabaja Perú" and "Vamos Perú," that promote employment opportunities for entrepreneurs.
The Union of Peruvian Breweries and Johnston is the industry leader in Peru, with five decentralised production plants in Lima, Arequipa, Cusco, Motupe and Pucallpa. It has a portfolio of well-segmented national and international brands created to satisfy consumers in more than 142,000 selling points throughout the country. During 2011, Backus registered net sales of S/. 3,005.5 million, contributed to the Treasury with S/. 2,224 million and directly gave jobs to more than 7,000 people and indirectly to more than 220,000 people.
Backus works with a focus on sustainable development, with the goal of generating shared value with the people that are part of its value chain and the communities in which it operates. That is why all its initiatives and projects are designed to generate social inclusion and strategic alliances to favour the efforts, and achieve a greater impact in, economic, social and environmental terms for society as a whole.
