Hybrid patrol car on the grounds of Dreher Breweries (Translation)

18 October 2011

This is yet another way the security firm is supporting the brewery's commitment to protecting the environment

Starting from the second half of October, Justice Security Ltd will be operating a Toyota Prius patrol car on the grounds of Dreher Breweries Ltd. The timing is not accidental: the company celebrates its 10th anniversary this October, and its owners - György Kovács and László Feke, former Dreher employees themselves - wanted to make this occasion memorable for one of their oldest customers, too.

"The 10 year old Justice Security is committed to protecting the environment. In this spirit, our company has not only introduced selective waste collection, environmentally conscious tool design and auto parts utilisation, but we are also the first guarding and security company in Hungary, private or public, to operate a hybrid patrol car. This is yet another way of supporting our client, known for their commitment to the environment," said György Kovács, chief executive officer at Justice Security.
The 136 horsepower Toyota Prius is powered by a 1.8 litre, so-called Atkinson cycle gas engine and an 80 horsepower electric motor. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds, and it can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h (not on the brewery's territory, of course). It carries a defibrillator in its 445 litre trunk, just like Justice Security Ltd's other patrol cars.

Regarding the car's fuel consumption, György Kovács said: "The manufacturer gave an incredibly low consumption figure of only 3.9 litres/100 km (60 mpg) on mixed cycle use. That means a CO2 emission of only 89 grams per 100 kilometres. The car is significantly more fuel-efficient than its traditional counterparts, and has a smaller environmental burden. It can be operated unrestrictedly even when there's a smog alert in effect, so we will be able to maintain continuous operations even then."

"The car is easy to drive, you don't need to push any buttons, as the switch between the electric and gas engine is automatic. And you can choose to drive it in electric-only mode, too. The security advantage of this is that the electric-only mode is silent, leading to a more effective motor vehicle patrolling, by using the so called stealth-mode," added György Kovács.

"Sustainable development has many and varied aspects; in production, we're already leading the way on environmental innovations. At Dreher Breweries, we're planning for the long run, and that's what we encourage our suppliers to do, too. We're happy that after a decade of cooperation, Justice Security Ltd is now planning to operate a hybrid patrol car at our Brewery, thus contributing to our efforts of reducing our carbon footprint," said Lóránt Sándor Kovács, business development director of Dreher Breweries Ltd, praising the security company's investment.
