14 June 2011

Amsterdam Mariner beer, produced by «Miller Brands Ukraine», the subsidiary of SABMiller plc, received an award for excellent quality at the Superior Taste Award contest in Brussels (Belgium), organised by the International Taste&Quality Institute (iTQi). The independent jury included 140 chefs and sommeliers, members of 12 prestigious professional European associations, gave high ratings to the organoleptic qualities of the product: its taste, aroma, aftertaste, appearance and colour.

Any brands producing retail food and drinks are invited to participate in the Superior Taste Awards. In 2011, 906 products from over 80 countries participated in the contest.

The rules of storing and serving the product submitted for the contest are very close to the requirements stated on the package. It allows us to realistically simulate the real-life product consumption.

Every product is evaluated based on its individual taste qualities, not in comparison with other products in the same category. The jury members evaluate the organoleptic qualities of the product by blind tasting, concentrating on the pleasure received during consumption. Only products with the minimum organoleptic score of 70% are eligible for the Superior Taste Award.

"We are very pleased that our new licensed product, Amsterdam Mariner, which we started to produce in the Ukraine in October 2010, was so highly assessed at a prestigious international contest," states Igor Tikhonov, general manager of  «Miller Brands Ukraine». "A stylish modern brand, Amsterdam Mariner was selected by us, from the rich international portfolio of the parent company, as a product most in keeping with the taste requirements of the Ukrainian consumers. We are glad that its launch at the Ukrainian market is accompanied by the unqualified recognition of its high quality by the independent jury of world experts".

Amsterdam Mariner is produced in the Ukraine under a licence of Royal Grolsch Breweries N.V. (Netherlands).
