- Machu Picchu: Canto de Piedra is published to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of the famous Incan citadel.

- The book's images will be displayed in nine stations of the Metro and in interior cities.

Lima, May 12, 2011 - In tribute to Machu Picchu's centenary, Cusqueña Beer published Machu Picchu: Canto de Piedra, a book that highlights the legend and richness of the Incan citadel.

The book seeks to show not only the past but also the present and future of Machu Picchu. It reviews the history and archaeological investigation of the magnificent Incan citadel, from the motives for its construction to its first sighting by Hiram Bingham in 1911.

The book also shows, like few have done before, the flora and fauna of this World Heritage Site, as well as a complete informational graph about the citadel. Plus, it comments on the business support and the conservation of Machu Picchu.

Editor Walter H. Wust, recognised archaeologists Federico Kauffmann Doig and Elías Mujica, biologist Benjamín Collantes and Cuzco writer Luis Nieto Degregori are some of the collaborators on Machu Picchu: Canto de Piedra, which also features images by the famous photographer Martín Chambi.

With the intention of bring people closer to Machu Picchu's majesty, the piece will be shown to the general public through an exposition of the book's best photographs. This exposition is actually available in Lima in nine stations of the Metro, including the central station, and will soon be available in the next three interior cities of our country (Cuzco, Arequipa, and Huancayo).

Exposition Dates of Machu Picchu: Canto de Piedra
