Peruvian mineral water receives recognition from Belgium’s Monde Selection Institute (Translation)

San Mateo is Awarded the International High Quality Trophy in Europe

- This trophy is awarded to a product that has achieved a high quality level three years in a row
- San Mateo has participated in Monde Selection three times and has always won the first prize: the Gran Oro medal.

Lima, November 8, 2010.- San Mateo, Backus group's mineral spring water, was awarded the International High Quality Trophy by Monde Selection of Belgium. The Grand Gold Award was given to San Mateo because it has attained the gold medal for its quality three times in a row.

"This award is an international recognition of the quality of San Mateo mineral spring water and strengthens its place as Peru's best water and one of the best in the world," stated María Teresa Cárdenas, Backus Water Brands Manager.

Monde Selection is an independent international institute founded in 1961 in Brussels. It is the oldest and most representative organisation in the consumer-products quality-testing field in the world. Every year, more than 1500 products from over 70 countries are submitted for testing with the objective of evaluating their standards of quality.

San Mateo is the only mineral spring water in Peru that is extracted 3300 metres above sea level. It is pure water that has undergone a long process of natural filtration through the years, which is the reason for its purity and minerals.

As a result, it achieves a perfect mineral balance (calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium) obtained in a natural way. The presence of minerals is of vital importance for our bodies to function properly. San Mateo has been in the market for more than 70 years and was the first mineral water in Peru, thus inaugurating the water market in the country.
