Marinera Contests at the National Level
- For 49 years, Cerveza Pilsen Trujillo has unconditionaly supported this tradicional dance
Lima, August 26, 2009.- Club Libertad and Cerveza Pilsen Trujillo have begun the preparations for the 50th National Marinera Contest through selective regional contests. To date, these events have taken place in Cajamarca, Chepén, Huaral, Tarapoto and Piura. More than 150 competitors from all categories, both at the amateur and master level, gather by city at these selective contests.
Here, the participants compete to place themselves in the first place and secure a place among the twelve finalists from the next national contest.
"As it happens every year, Cerveza Pilsen Trujillo is the main sponsor of the National Marinera Contest. Moreover, we identify ourselves with the tradition and elegance of this beautiful dance. As a result, we work together with Club Libertad to expand it throughout Peru". Said Sandra Canny, Pilsen Trujillo's manager.
The goal of this traditional event organized by Trujillo's Club Libertad is to take marinera to all the country's cities and provinces. It also aims to promote the involvement in the national contest that will take place in January 2010 in the city of Trujillo.
Fernando Burmester, Club Libertad's president, expressed his satisfaction for the beginning of the selective contests, which grow in number of participants year after year. In addition, such as it was announced last year, Club Libertad and Cerveza Pilsen Trujillo, will hold regional marinera contests in different cities in the country. Four of them have been programmed in Cajamarca, Huaral, Tarapoto and Cusco, besides the ones that will take place in Chepén, Piura, Chimbote, Arequipa, Huacho and Lima. A high level of participation is expected at the one to take place on September 13 at Chimbote.
