Russian beer lovers choose Gambrinus! (Translation)

30 July 2009

Prague/Plzen, July 29, 2009 - Mid July was the finale of the 11th annual Velký Moskevský Mezinárodní pivní festival (Big Moravian International beer festival), which took place, just like previous years, in the sports arena Lužniki. According to organizers, this year's festival was visited by approximately 100,000 people. Visitors awarded Gambrinus an award for ‘Best imported beer of the Big Moravian International beer festival 2009.'

This year's festival had a record number of submitted beer samples. Approximately 160 brands from local and foreign producers were tasted. The visitors could try Czech beer thanks to Interportfolio, a company which presently imports from Russia exclusively three European brands: German Duckstein, Czech Gambrinus and Tatranský Zámok.

A lot of attention was given to the Gambrinus brand. Russian beer lovers appreciated its excellent flavor and awarded it an honorary title for best beer of the festival.

"This is truly an honor for us, because it is given by true beer lovers. These are people who come here to relax and to discover new beer," declared manager of Gambrinus Russia, Jkaterina Smolkova.

"The Gambrinus is actively supported in Russia and we keep a high standard. In a very short time, we have been able to introduce it into retail chains and to start cooperating with a chain of name brand pubs and restaurants in Moscow. Presently, we are planning to launch an interactive web site and even more in the future," said PR manager of Interportfolio, Ilja Bereznyuk and added: "Gambrinus is characterized by its true Czech flavor. That is why I am not surprised by the honorary award. "

An example of foreign brands which were at the festival:
- Gambrinus (Czech Republic)
- Tatranský Zamok (Czech Republic)
- Kaiser (Austria)
- Birra Moretti (Italy)
- Krušovice (Czech Republic)
- Hofbrau (Germany)
- Duckstein (Germany)
- Engel (Germany)
- Bakalář (Czech Republic)
- Green King (Great Britain)
- Spaten (Germany)

- Gambrinus has been, for a long time, the most sold beer on the Czech market. Approximately every fourth beer drunk in Czech Republic is Gambrinus.
- Gambrinus is the most important partner of Czech soccer - the Gambrinus league and of the Czech soccer team.
- Gambrinus is part of the Plzeňský Prazdroj portfolio, together with brands such as Pilsner Urquell, Velkopopovický Kozel, Radegast and Radegast Birell.
