How does a body digest alcohol? How does alcohol influence your health? What is a safe daily dosage of alcohol? You may find answers to these and other questions at is a Polish version of, prepared by one of the biggest beer producers in the world, SABMiller plc. It is the first ever initiative of this sort on a global scale by a major producer of alcohol.

"Although we truly believe that the beer produced by us serves well the decisive majority of the consumers, nevertheless, we are not blind to the harmful effects of irresponsible consumption of alcohol. Through this website, we hope to initiate transparent discussions on the health-related and social aspects of alcohol consumption, as well as remind all the adults to make responsible decisions when consuming alcohol"- in this way Kristin Wolfe, head of the Alcohol Policy at SABMiller, justifies the creation of the webpage.

The website contains, among others, a segment titled "alcohol and the human body" which allows for an interactive journey through an organism and explains how alcohol is digested and processed. You may find there an explanation of the physical reasons for hangovers as well as the newest information how alcohol influences diabetics and pregnant women. The pages titled "social occasions" provide a list of facts to worth-remembering on evening outings, including the information when drinking alcohol might not be the best idea. The website provides unique data on the alcohol, grain, and carbohydrates in over 100 brands of beer from all over the world.

"I am very impressed. The content is very clear and reasonably easy to understand by a layperson, and quite remarkable," said Dr. Alfred I. Neuget, Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Columbia University, one of the experts assessing the website.

Those who visit may also listen to independent experts on alcohol, who regularly research issues connected with health, parenthood, consumption of alcohol in large quantities at a single session, DUI and the existing alcohol policies. The website is addressed to adult alcohol consumers. "People should be able to make conscious decisions regarding alcohol consumption, based exact, properly balanced data. Only then are they able to assess personal risk they might undertake or the benefits that may result from alcohol consumption," stressed Paweł Sudoł, President of the Board of the Kompania Piwowarska.
