Santa Cruz de Tenerife, October 2008: Compañía Cervecera de Canarias, one of the leading industrial groups in the Canary Islands, plans to invest over 8.77 million euro in this financial year, an increase of 20.8% compared to the previous year. This amount will be spent on adapting production and filling lines for the manufacture of new beverages, acquiring returnable bottles and items for transport, as well as display materials and fittings for around 13,000 points of sale served directly. The company will also assign part of the investment to updating the management operating system, to aspects of occupational health and safety and to the renovation of its twelve sites.

Aware of the importance of its activity for the industrial development of the Canary Islands, in recent years, the company has gradually extended its investment volume leading to this year's increase of 20.8%.

A large part of this year's investment, 2.7 million euro, will be assigned to adapting production and filling lines for manufacturing new beverages. Furthermore, the company will dedicate around 1.1 million euro to aspects related to acquiring display materials and fittings for the 13,000 points of sale of the products manufactured and distributed by CCC throughout the Canary Islands, such as fonts, coolers, fittings for the hotel and catering trade, and so on.

Reducing its environmental footprint is top priority for the company, which is why this year around one million euro will go to purchasing returnable bottles. Compañía Cervecera currently fills 63% of its products using returnable formats-far higher than the average for the Spanish beer industry (52%).

In the last ten years, Compañía Cervecera de Canarias has invested over 87 million euro in fitting out and modernizing its facilities and distribution networks, equipping them with the most modern and innovative services.

In the words of Mark Tindall, Chief Executive Officer of CCC, "bearing in mind the adverse situation in which the sector finds itself and the forecasts for this year and next, here at Compañía Cervecera de Canarias we wish to endorse our commitment to the development of the region and its corporate sector. Accordingly, throughout this year, we shall continue to work decisively on optimizing manufacturing, distribution and management processes".
