SABMiller appoints group brand communications director

SABMiller has announced the appointment of Charlie Hiscocks as its group brand communications director.
Mark Sherrington, SABMiller group marketing director said, "I am extremely pleased to welcome Charlie to SABMiller. His appointment underlines our commitment to raising marketing capability across the group. Charlie is vastly experienced in the development of brands and his skills will be a valuable asset to the group's marketing functions."
Mr. Hiscocks's role will cover three main areas: supporting SABMiller's operating businesses in their in-market efforts to improve both the process and output of brand communications, championing and coordinating the group's efforts to become world leaders in 360 degree integrated marketing, and supporting the drive behind Group's international brands such as Pilsner Urquell, Miller Genuine Draft (MGD) and Peroni Nastro Azzurro.
Mr. Hiscocks (41) has a distinguished background in brand building communications. He joins SABMiller from Added Value, part of WPP, the world's largest communications group, where he was director of the integrated communications group.
Prior to joining Added Value he was a founding member of Tempus Partners and of Vodafone's Global Communications Team.
He also brings significant experience from his work with agencies such as Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH), Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) and J. Walter Thompson (JWT), where he was the board director in charge of the integrated Boots The Chemist business, as well as running pan-European business for Unilever Bestfoods and Kimberly Clarke.
He was also a founder member of "The Store", the cross WPP retail specialist group and has been a regular contributor to IPA training course and conferences.
Mr. Hiscocks takes up his new appointment on 1 October 2003.
