19 November 2013
Plzeň, November 18, 2013 – Plzeňský Prazdroj recently issued a report about the goals reached in the field of company responsibility for the period from April 2012 to March 2013. The company has improved in all monitored parameters, and the best results were reached in water conservation. In Nošovice brewery Radegast, they lowered the water usage below 3 hl per 1 hl beer made, which is the amount of the absolute world level.
“We are happy to present to you the 8Th report on sustainable development at Plzeňský Prazdroj, which is full of interesting activities and has been verified by an independent entity. I would like to thank all coworkers and partners for their support, thanks to which we were able to develop the idea of responsible and sustainable development in the Czech Republic and bring concrete examples of good business practises,” said Drahomíra Mandíková, director of corporate affairs and communications of Pilsner Urquell.
The support of responsible alcohol consumption is among the most important activities. Prazdroj has continued in successful cooperation with the association SANANIM and has introduced a calm zone K-LEE-DECK at music festivals. Together with the Town of Plzeň and Centre of Drug Use Prevention and Therapy, they realised a unique campaign called ”Respect 18” that supports limiting the selling and serving of alcohol to underage children.
During the last period, Plzeňský Prazdroj Company did not forget about its responsibility toward the environment and continued in its water saving activities during the beer production processes. They accomplished amazing results at the Nošovice brewery where they were able to reduce the water consumption below 3 hl per 1 hl of beer made, and that is the absolute world level. In Pilsen brewery they started a very interesting project that is focused on the use of spent grains for the production of green energy.
A grant programme “Prazdroj to People” continued with its 11th year. A total of 5,5 million CZK (about 275,000 USD) was redistributed among 35 successful projects. A very interesting and successful event was the auction, organised to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the first batch of Pilsner Urquell, which happened to be the most successful auction in the history of iDNES.cz and its proceedings of more than 1,000,000 CZK (about 50,000 USD) were donated to the Centre Umbrella.
Prazdroj Company also deals with diversity, equality of employment opportunities for men and women, and supports politicians with families on their minds. You can find all the details about realised activities, their evaluation and the final verification of the report by the third independent party in full here.
