Canary Islands, June 2, 2011 - Dorada Pilsen, Dorada Especial and Dorada Sin beer have been awarded with gold medals by the Monde Selection International Institute for Quality Selections during the 2011 Monde Selection competition. Moreover, Dorada Pilsen, because it received gold medals for three straight years, has been awarded an additional prize: the International High Quality Trophy 2011, awarded to a Spanish brand for the first time.

This is the fourth consecutive year in which the Canary Island beers have been distinguished by this organisation, considered to be a reference point in granting prizes for quality in the beer sector, confirming the high quality of the products fabricated by Compañía Cervecera de Canarias.

Dorada Pilsen and Dorada Especial received gold medals once again during this year's competition, while Dorada Sin has been able to surpass its previous distinction by going from a silver medal last year to a gold one this year. Likewise, in 2008, Especial beer and Sin Alcohol received gold medals from the Monde Selection, being the only Spanish-produced beers to receive this distinction. In 2009, Dorada Pilsen received a gold medal and Sin a silver one.

These prizes represent an external recognition of the work done to assure the highest quality standards at Dorada beer. As such, they confirm the efforts made over the past several years by Compañía Cervecera de Canarias to improve its product, which has become a priority applied continuously in different aspects of the beer-fabrication process.

Moreover, the prize received by Compañía Cervecera coincides with the Institute's previously mentioned fiftieth anniversary. The awards ceremony took place on May 24 in the Autoworld Museum in Brussels, a nineteenth-century building located in the Parc du Cinquantenaire. It contains one of the most complete car collections from all time periods.

Founded in 1961, one of the goals of Monde Selection is to test different consumer products directly to grant quality awards. For this, the Institute conducts tests of over 2,450 products in over 80 different countries. The products undergo examinations by completely independent juries made up of well-trained, internationally recognised professionals in different areas.

This rigorous selection process makes Monde Selection one of the most prestigious international entities in its field. It confirms that the winning products are high quality in their ingredients and manufacturing processes.

More precisely, the evaluation committees base their decisions on different factors, such as taste, health, convenience, label, packaging, bottling, environmental respect and innovation.
