MTC, MINNTER and Backus hold multi-sector conference on road security responsibility in Pucallpa (Translation)

The event will take place this coming Tuesday, November 9, at the Ucayali River Hotel starting at 8:00 am.

- The conference aims to bring together the main public institutions and transportation unions to discuss the issue of road security in Pucallpa.

- An agreement will be signed to execute joint or individual actions that allow the formation of a culture of road responsibility.

Pucallpa, November 9, 2010 - In a joint effort to continue the task of creating awareness and including in the national agenda the importance of promoting adequate road safety and defending the fundamental right of life, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Ministry of Interior and the Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston S.A.A., will host the "Multi-sector Conference on Road Security Responsibility in Pucallpa."

The conference, with the participation of the Minister of Transportation and Communications, Enrique Cornejo Ramírez, and of the main public and private authorities in Pucallpa, will be inaugurated by the Vice-minister of Internal Order from the Ministry of Interior, Gen. PNP Marco Miyashiro.

Among the objectives of this event is the signing of the "Declaration of Pucallpa on Road Security Responsibility," an agreement aiming to unify all of the institutions involved on the issue and that will serve as a framework to promote and coordinate joint actions related to road security with the important support of the private sector.

Thus, the Conference will showcase presentations by representatives of the main public institutions involved in Road Security, such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Individual Land Transportation, Cargo and Merchandise Direction (SUTRAN), the Regional Government and the Municipality of Pucallpa, as well as urban public, interprovincial and cargo transportation companies.

This important event, which will take place this coming Tuesday, November 9, starting at 8:00 am at the Ucayali River Hotel, will drive proposals to promote respect for transit regulations among the pucallpeños.
