Lima, August, 09 2010. For the fifth consecutive year, Cerveza Cusqueña, Peru's premium beer, has received recognition from the International Taste & Quality Institute (ITQI) of Belgium. This time it was given the Superior Taste Award for its Cusqueña Blanca and Malta presentations. This award is very important since it honours the international premium quality of this Peruvian brand.

The Superior Taste Award given by the ITQI is a renowned award that certifies product quality. Cerveza Cusqueña is the first Peruvian beer that has received such an important award and recognition.

"Cerveza Cusqueña is a source of joy for Peruvians. Not only has it received international awards but it has also been widely accepted in the most demanding international markets," stated Javier Neyra, Cusqueña's brand manager.

The International Taste & Quality Institute of Brussels, Belgium, is the leading independent organisation dedicated to evaluating beer taste. ITQI judges work in association with 12 prestigious European institutions from countries such as France, Belgium, Spain and Italy, among others.

It is worth mentioning that Cerveza Cusqueña has been receiving this annual recognition from such a demanding group of judges since 2006.

Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston continues strengthening its internationalisation strategy through its Cusqueña brand. The company aims to place its beer brands among the preferred brands in the world.
