28 October 2009
Lima, October 26, 2009 - Backus and its business partner, San Ignacio S.A., are implementing a reforestation program that will run until March 2010. The program's goal is to plant more than 4,000 trees in various districts of Lima, where San Ignacio S.A. distributes Backus products.
With the coordination of the municipal authorities, three hundred trees were planted in the district of Huaral on this occasion. Huaral's Mayor, Dr. Jaime Uribe Ochoa; Environment and Citizenship Services Manager, Mr. Arturo Moreno Carrera and San Ignacio's Director for the North Region Distribution Centre, Mr. Antonio Quintana Suárez, participated in the tree planting ceremony. A team of volunteers and workers were also present and were in charge of planting trees. Through this effort, Alameda del Amor and Chancay Avenue in the neighborhood of El Rosario de Huaral, became this northern district's new lungs.
The joint effort between Backus, San Ignacio, Huaral's municipality and the district's Board of Neighbors not only makes the area beautiful but also promotes environmental awareness among workers and local residents.
