History

1931

Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) is established as Overseas Brewery Limited – the first brewery built in the European tradition in West Africa.

1939-45

Club Lager becomes the first local Ghanaian clear beer brand and proves popular throughout West Africa during the Second World War. Club Minerals included Colas, Ginger Ale, Quinine Tonic and Muscatella.

1995-97

ABL is listed in 1995. South African Breweries acquires nearly 70% of the shares and a management contract in 1997. Capacity has since been increased to some 500,000 hl.
