History

1980

Lesotho Brewing Company (Pty) Ltd (LBC) is established as a joint venture between the Lesotho National Development Corporation (51%), SAB (39%) and the Commonwealth Development Corporation (10%).

1982

Brewing and soft drink production starts in 1982 through Maluti Mountain Brewery and Maratholi Beverages. Wines and spirits are imported and sold through Lesotho Liquor Distributors.

2002

The Commonwealth Development Corporation sells its shares to a privatisation unit set up by the Lesotho Government.

2010

Lesotho Brewing Company changes its name to Maluti Mountain Brewery.

Various women

Empowering women in Lesotho

In Lesotho, Maluti Mountain Brewery held its second annual Women's Empowerment Day for female employees and the wives and partners of male employees. The event, popular with employees and their families, aims to encourage local female entrepreneurship as well as to improve the uptake of voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) for HIV among employees' spouses.
