History

1996

SAB Ltd enters Romania with the acquisition of Vulturul Buzau.

1997

SAB acquires Pitber Pitesti and Ursus Cluj-Napoca.

1998

Ursus, Vulturul Buzau and Pitber Pitesti are merged to form Ursus Breweries S.A.

2001

Ursus become the majority shareholder in Bere Timisoreana.

2004

The company acquires Aurora Brasov and takes over the Ciucas brand.

2009

SABMiller's Romanian subsidiary, Ursus Breweries, acquires a 71% interest in the Romanian brewer Bere Azuga.

2010

Closure of URSUS brewery in Cluj

2011

The opening of the mini production facility "Fabrica de Bere URSUS" in Cluj, in the premises of the old URSUS factory.
